Is your Home Ready for Winter??

Whether you leave Ohio for a warmer climate or stay home in beautiful Ohio, The TEAM at Brahler’s Cleaning and Restoration wants you and your home to be prepared for the winter months. Proper winterization of your home not only keeps the cold out, it will also protect your home from harm. We are ready to help you P.L.A.N. this process of winterizing your home. Below are a few tips to make this process easier for you.

P: Plumbing/Pipes. Shut off the supply of water to the outside spigots and drain them. Disconnect hose, drain and store away from the elements. By leaving your hose attached water can stay in the pipe and will quickly freeze. This can damage your faucet and pipes.

L: Lights. Change your light bulbs and replace them with energy efficient bulbs. By using energy efficient bulbs this will not only save energy, it will also save energy costs.

A: Air Flow. Check windows, vents and doors for air flow. Seal leaks with plastic weather stripping or caulk. This process will help to reduce your energy use and help lower your utility bills.

N: New batteries. Replace batteries in all fire/smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. . This is also a great time to check your smoke alarms to make sure they are working properly or have them replaced. Smoke alarms should be replaced every 10 years. Depending on your location the Red Cross provides and installs smoke alarms to homeowners at no cost.

These are only a few of the items that you should check when winterizing your homes. The BCR team is here to help prepare your home for the winter months, call us today at (330)834-0008 to schedule an appointment!
